Authenticating a Domain removes the 'via Brytsoftware' that borrowers see when receiving an email from Bryt. To authenticate a domain we need to obtain the following from the client:
-
Domain that the client wants to authenticate for email branding. (i.e. mycustomdomain.com)
-
DNS Host (e.g. GoDaddy, Cloudflare, etc.)
In SendGrid (As of 11/11/24):
-
Navigate to the left options pane and click on 'Settings' > 'Sender Authentication'.
-
Under Domain Authentication, click 'Authenticate Your Domain'
-
Once in Authenticate Your Domain,
-
Under 'Which Domain Name Server (DNS) host do you use?', select the client's DNS host from the dropdown menu.
-
Leave 'Would you also like to brand the links for this domain?' to 'No'.
-
Click 'Next'
-
Under 'Domain You Send From', enter the domain name provided by client. (i.e. mycustomdomain.com)
-
Click 'Next'
-
You should now be in the 'Install DNS Records' screen.
-
-
The following process may involve some trial and error.
-
NOTE: Certain DNS hosts automatically append the client's domain when entering DNS records. ALWAYS inform clients to check with their DNS registrar for help with inserting DNS records. For example, when providing the client with the DNS records from SendGrid for CloudFlare or GoDaddy, provide the DNS records without the domain name.
-
For example, SendGrid will provide:
-
TYPE; HOST; VALUE
-
CNAME; em6071.mycustomdomain; u3835365.wl116.sendgrid.net
-
-
Provide the client with the following:
-
CNAME; em6071; u3835365.wl116.sendgrid.net
-
-
Email the client the DNS records from SendGrid. As previously mentioned, some DNS hosts may automatically append the domain name when adding DNS records.
-
Once the client has confirmed they've added the DNS records, return to SendGrid.
In SendGrid (As of 11/11/24)
-
Return to 'Settings' > 'Sender Authentication' and click on the corresponding domain.
-
Locate the 'Verify' button in the upper right corner of the site. Click 'Verify'.
-
If successful, a success message will appear. Otherwise, some additional troubleshooting may be required. Refer to Twilio/SendGrid support documents for additional help.
-
It is possible that the domain name may need to be added to the DNS records when provided to the client, or removed, depending on which was successful.
-
Please wait the recommended 48 hours before verifying the domain after the client has added new DNS records. After the 48 hours, return to SendGrid to attempt to verify the domain again.
As a template to use once you have DNS records to send to the client:
You'll want to reach out to your DNS registrar and ask them how you need to enter your records. It's possible you may have to remove the subdomain from the records listed below. The records are:
1)
Type: CNAME
Host:
Address:
2)

Once you've added these records, please let me know and we can start the final verification process.
